In Tianjin, tourists wander through the former concession districts and admire the grand architecture of the past, but there is one place they always return to - the river Haihe.

A cruise down the river is a must, while a stroll on the banks will bring visitors close to its numerous bridges, each more beautiful than the last. Now, there is a new attraction - a bar and lounge right on the water's edge where you can enjoy some classic cocktails.

The St. Regis Tianjin is the only hotel that boasts its own little stretch of river bank, and it takes full advantage of this privilege each summer by opening up its lounge by the river for al fresco wining and dining.

Opened in 2011, the St. Regis Tianjin, part of Starwood Hotels and Resorts, is about a five-minute walk from the Tianjin Railway Station.

Located on the south bank of the Haihe River, the bar offers afternoon tea and a simple dinner menu, with cocktails and the intimate view of Tianjin's famous waterway being the main attractions.

For example, the classic Bloody Mary is called the Jin Mary here, and it is spiced up with a uniquely Tianjin chili-garlic paste and topped up with lapsang souchong tea.

Every night, guests can also enjoy barbecue and burgers, as well as super-sized coolers and ice cream from the cart besides the cocktail and beer selections.
